To hear the press tell it, the transportation and freight industries might be on the verge of being overrun with self-driving trucks. Even if a few headline-grabbing projects of this sort are making good progress today, though, the day when totally driver-less trucks roam the highways is still probably decades off. In fact, virtually every expert of note, including the federal government’s Bureau of Labor Statistics itself, reports that demand for professional drivers remains high and is set to rise in the coming years.
Becoming a career truck driver is also easier than many people would suppose. Because the job prospects are so good, financing for an education is relatively easy to come by, with the schooling itself not being very expensive in the first place. Among those who learn about financing options at Star Truck Driving School, for example, practically everyone finds that an arrangement that will work well with their budget is easy to arrive at.
Most of these financial aid options take the form of loans. Federally guaranteed loans at Star Truck Driving School and similar institutions are widely available to those who have not yet achieved a bachelor’s degree of some kind. Private loans, too, are often fairly easy to come by, once again largely due to the ease of finding a job for most successful graduates. High graduation and license acquisition rates at the top schools, too, also contribute to the ease of getting loans.
In some cases, those who learn about financing options at Company Name even find that they are eligible for grants and scholarships. While most of these financial boosts will not cover the full cost of tuition, even a relatively small amount of help of this kind can make training as a truck driver still more attractive.
Since there is still a shortage of truck drivers, there are enough great opportunities for becoming one and this cannot be expected to last forever. While self-driving trucks will probably take over eventually, that time is far enough out that those training to drive trucks today can look forward to long, rewarding careers full of freedom and opportunity.
